Boat Building with Lowcountry Maritime School

We love the Lowcountry, and we believe it is a special place that deserves our respect, attention, and our love of learning; we extend this love to our waterways and boating through partnering with the Lowcountry Maritime School to provide an after school boat building class for 4th - 8th graders.

The Lowcountry Maritime School has taught hundreds of local students science, math, and woodworking (and resilience) through their successful boat building program.  However, not all schools have the good fortune to participate, so we are making the connection to get kids involved in hands-on boat building at the LMS headquarters.

This after school program runs the majority of the Fall semester and culminates with a family friendly boat launch.  More importantly, participants apply geometry, problem solving, and cooperative learning to a building a Bevins Skiff.  In other words, your kids can become craftspeople that apply their hands, hearts, and brains to build something of their very own ... and then get to take it out on the water!
