A Boat Ride to Morris Island

I think I first saw Morris Island from the north end of Folly about 15 years ago.  I was just visiting Charleston then, but my first thought was, "How do I get out there?" and my second was, "How is that lighthouse still standing?"

I still don't know the answer to the latter, but I do know how to get out there ... and I highly recommend it.  A trip out to Morris Island is the perfect family adventure for all types and ages of family.

Despite this being mid-Winter (well, mid-something) we scheduled a trip to Morris Island well in advance with our good friends at Charleston Outdoor Adventures.  Since we use them throughout the year for boating and kayaking, we were treated to a 'private' boat piloted by Captain Luke.  Not only did this provide some flexibility, we also took some extra time with the 'pirate ship', a pod of dolphins (3rd smartest creatures if you ask us humans), and at the kids request, couple of playful doses of "Superspeeeeeed".

Rather than exercising my typing skills a little more, maybe attempting to spin some prophetic prose, I think some photos from the trip more than describe it:
